If you do not know which type of upgrade you should use for your Windows Installer–based project or if you do not have a preference, you can create an automatic upgrade. With automatic upgrades, InstallShield determines which type of upgrade—major upgrade or minor upgrade—would be optimal based on comparisons between the earlier and later packages that you specify.
